Spider veins or telangiectasias are the small dilated blood vessels on the legs that may be blue or red in color.  They may sometimes appear in a starburst shape.  Varicose veins are larger and blue and are often raised above the skin.  There may or may not be discomfort from either spider or varicose veins, but they are disliked because they are found unattractive.

Treating the spider veins with sclerotherapy can help improve them.  Sclerotherapy is the injection of a solution into the veins which causes them to close off and fade away over four to six weeks.  We most often use a solution of hypertonic saline. Support hose will need to be worn after your treatment.  This and your post-treatment activity level will be reviewed at your consultation appointment

Leg vein treatment or sclerotherapy is almost always not covered by insurance.
