Skin Rejuvenation FAQs

1.   Is it right for me?

Skin rejuvenation treatments have been proven to be effective in treating people with various degrees of solar damage, skin aging, pigmentation disorders, and premature wrinkling.  We can determine if this treatment will benefit you with a comprehensive consultation.

2.   What should I expect after skin rejuvenation treatments?

If skin rejuvenation is right for you, your treatment will determine you recovery plan.  It can range from an immediate return to work, to taking things easy and avoiding driving for a few days after treatment.

3.   Is there any pain involved?

Skin rejuvenation itself ranges from painless to slightly irritating to the skin.  During your treatment, your skin may be anesthetized. Most people experience very little discomfort following the procedure.  We will discuss your anesthesia options with you during your consultation.

4.   Will my skin be wrinkle-free after skin rejuvenation?

Skin rejuvenation will soften the appearance of wrinkles.  The degree of improvement is dependant on the type of rejuvenation selected and the severity of your photo-aging.

5.   How do I prepare for skin rejuvenation treatments?

No special preparations are generally necessary.  However, every person's situation is unique.  We will discuss post-treatment options with you during your consultation.  These post-treatment options are designed to maximize your skin rejuvenation results.

Wrinkles FAQ

1. How are wrinkles corrected?

The appearance of wrinkles and facial folds can be smoothed by adding volume underneath and bringing the skin back up to the surface.  Generally, this is done by injecting material called "dermal fillers" into the skin, to achieve a temporary effect.

2.  What is a dermal filler?

Dermal fillers are compounds that can be safely injected below the surface to raise the level of the skin.  Examples of dermal fillers are collagen and hyaluronic acid.

3.  What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural complex sugar found in all mammals.  It's a major component of the dermis connective tissue matrix.

HA retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1000 times its weight.  This helps to attract and maintain water, hydrating your skin and increasing its volume and density.  HA is also involved with the transport of essential nutrients to the skin's viable cells.

4.  What is Juvederm injectable gel?

Juvederm is a family of hyaluronic acid injectable gels from Allergan, Inc. for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.

Juvederm Ultra injectable gel is optimally formulated for versatility in contouring and volumizing wrinkles and folds.

Juvederm Ultra Plus injectable gell is a robust formulation for volumizing and correcting depper wrinkles and folds.

5.  How is Juvederm injectable gel different?

Juvederm injectable gell is produced through HYLACROSS technology, cross-linking high concentrations of HA and still maintaining a smooth product.

During the cross-linking phase of manufacturing, hyaluronic acid chains are "tied' to each other by chemical bonding; in effect, interconnecting many strands of HA. Unless hyaluronic acid is cross-linked, it will be absorbed by the body and persist for only about one week.

HYALACROSS technology results in the smooth-consistency gel, which is a primary factor in the smooth, natural look and feel that is a hallmark of JUVEDERM injectable wrinkle correction.
